Cumana Believers Equipped with DWJD

Cumana, Venezuela—Ruth and Enrique Villalba, senior pastors of the Cumana Foursquare church invited John, Sonja, Paul Otremba, and the Venezuela Missions School to conduct an action-packed, five-day Doing What Jesus Did workshop. In the year 2000, the church started with four people. It has grown to over 3,000 members. The 350 small group network is the backbone that keeps this church functioning with excellence. This is the largest Foursquare church in Venezuela, in a city of over 300,000. The worship is Holy Spirit led, especially when pastor Ruth is in charge of the evening. The sanctuary is overwhelming. It is a converted warehouse with a 100 foot ceiling that will comfortably seat 3,000 people with enough room for another 1,000 when needed. We were thrilled to be able to present the six ministry skills to equip the Cumana believers!

Two Hundred Baptized in the Holy Spirit!

Sonja taught the sessions on the Holy Spirit baptism, Hearing from God, and Dealing with Demons. We were amazed at the incredible hunger and response of the attendees of the workshop. When Sonja gave the altar call for those desiring to be baptized in the Holy Spirit, two hundred out of the six hundred came forward and received the power from on high. When the leaders broke into their practicum groups, they made sure everyone released their spiritual language as they practiced leading each other into the power of the Holy Spirit. The session on Hearing from God resulted in most of the attendees hearing God’s voice, many for the very first time. The session on Dealing with Demons revealed that the leadership already had a procedure in place to care for demonic manifestations. Only two people manifested over the five-day period.

Four Hundred Healed by the Power of God!

John taught the sessions on Leading people to Christ, Learning How to Heal the Sick, and Healing the Sick by Revelation. There were many times when the Holy Spirit directed John to stop in the middle of his teaching or preaching and instruct the gathering to obey what the Holy Spirit revealed to do at the moment. When he called out those who had pain in their feet and pain in their shoulders they all prayed in unison and were healed. As always, we immediately asked those who received a healing miracle to come up on stage and testify. We made time for God to receive all the glory for the many healings. We never left the stage. We had those who just learned how to heal the sick, turn and pray for those needing healing. The Holy Spirit honored their faith by healing about four hundred of their neighbors in a matter of about a half hour! Praise God!
