A dream come true!

A book manufacturer in Bend, Oregon produced our book. This shows the bindery worker handing John and Sonja the very first copy of Doing What Jesus Did.

Our new book, Doing What Jesus Did, is ready to read! We picked it up from the printer the first of March. We have been very busy mailing and distributing the first copies to a large number of our friends. A number of pastors have already ordered the book in case quantities for their leaders. We are delighted at the initial response from some of the early readers.
One woman in our small group read the entire book in less than a week. She said it answered the mystery of how to be free of some hidden bondages that have plagued her since childhood. We can only praise the Lord for His unspeakable wisdom!
This is definitely a fulfillment of a dream. We have pursued this dream for years, and it has now become a reality. We dreamed of publishing a book that captured our life’s calling and what we feel the Body of Christ needs to seriously consider: doing what Jesus did, including the miracles. We now have in print a lifetime of stories, personal examples, and scriptural illustrations for believers worldwide. It is dedicated to those who are contending for the supernatural as they minister to others.
Doing What Jesus Did (DWJD) is a practical, 330 page, step-by-step guide for Christians that illustrates how to pray and minister to others in the power and revelation of the Holy Spirit. One-third of the book is dedicated to Scripture. |

John Turns Thirty

John in the 70's
Someone once said, "We celebrate our birthday, counting the years since we were born. God is more interested the years since we were born into His Kingdom." If this still holds true, John just turned thirty! He was born into God's kingdom on March 4, 1973. He feels the last thirty years have been the best and most productive years of his life.
This issue is dedicated to how a person can be born twice. Chapter One of Doing What Jesus Did is all about Leading People to Christ. Next time you see John you might say, "John you sure don't look thirty!"
"John, we knew you when you didn't know Jesus. We are so glad you decided to follow the Lord. In those days you looked and acted more like an obnoxious Know-it-all. God has really done a transformation in your life." (The following is a sneak peak from chapter one, Leading People to Christ). |

It Happened to Me

John today
I (John) vividly remember the events of early 1973. If the Campus Crusade for Christ leaders had not given witnessing tools to an engineering student named Dave, this book would not have been written. I could not witness as to how I came to know Christ. I could not teach anyone how to lead people to Christ. I might still be lost in my sin, unforgiven, and on my way to hell.
Dave was quiet and somewhat reserved. He was only nineteen. His parents attended the same church I did. He presented a booklet to me entitled, “The Four Spiritual Laws.” My church did not preach that you must be born again. But, the booklet said you must. He would present me with the same booklet every other Sunday. Confused and quite irritated, I told him I did not appreciate his approach and to take his religion somewhere else. Each week Dave would smile, say hello, and with booklet in hand he would ask if I had any questions about what it said. Finally, to get him to go away I consented to listen to a tape he gave me.
John 6:44 “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.” NASB
- The Father uses Christians to spread the Gospel in ways that draw the lost to Him.
- Your testimony, a tract, or a cassette tape can be used to “preach” the Gospel to those who do not know Christ.
- Faith to receive Christ comes by hearing the Word that will save them.

It happened in my living room.
The churches in my city launched a region-wide outreach program called “Key ‘73.” Our church responded by arranging a series of home food-and-fellowship gatherings. I offered my home for one of the Sunday nights. Dave and some of his friends showed up. They began talking about how great it was to have a personal relationship with God and how He was directing their lives. They even talked about how they were absolutely assured where they would spend eternity. At the end of the evening they began to take prayer requests. When they asked me if they could pray for any of my concerns, I nervously indicated that I needed a few weeks to think over this “God stuff.” I said I needed to make a decision about all this, but I needed some time to think about it.
They prayed out loud.
They prayed things like, “Thank you, Jesus, for being right here. Thank you, God, for seeing into John’s heart. You know everything he is thinking right now. Help him to accept You as his Lord and Savior.” All the prayers were so soft, personal, and non-condemning.
By the time it was my turn to pray, all I could do was cry. I said, “God, I quit. I’m so sorry. I didn’t believe You arose from the dead. But, You did. You are alive. Take my life. Do what You have to do to me. Amen.” I wept from way down deep inside me. I could not stop crying. Dave and everyone else came over and hugged me saying, “Welcome to the Kingdom, John. You’ve just been born again.”
Dave had led me to Christ. The Holy Spirit had used Dave to introduce me to Christ in a way that caused me to want to accept Him as my personal Lord and Savior. God used a young engineering student who was willing to learn a few strategic phrases from a simple witnessing outline that placed me squarely in front of Jesus Christ. That is called effective marketplace witnessing.

The Centralia leadership was very interested in the workshop on the Holy Spirit.

Pastors David and Norma Eaton, Oakview Foursquare Church, Centralia, Washington invited John and Sonja to conduct a Saturday workshop on the Holy Spirit for their leaders. It was very exciting to see the eager response from all those who attended. The Centralia leadership was very interested in the workshop on the Holy Spirit
Five of the leaders were prayed for to receive the Holy Spirit baptism and went away rejoicing. Pastors David and Norma have invited John and Sonja to conduct an MTC teacher intensive later this year.

Sonja and John took turns preaching the Sunday message on the power of the Holy Spirit.
On Sunday, John and Sonja took turns preaching the morning message. John preached on the power and Sonja preached on receiving the power of the Holy Spirit. There were so many responding that Pastor Dave, Sonja, and John were busy praying for those who came forward to receive the power. Four people got saved and twenty-five received the Holy Spirit baptism. We praise God!
