Volume One: Kingdom Living
Living in Christ This is advanced training for those desiring to operate in the realm of the supernatural. The lessons start with understanding our spiritual authority and gradually move into experiencing miracles, as the Holy Spirit directs. It is advisable to complete Discipleship One and Two before attempting to implement the principles found in these lessons. This is excellent training not only for lay ministers and small group leaders, but also for evangelists, missionaries, and those preparing to minister in foreign countries.
The Spirit-Led Life These six lessons are designed to train believers how to cooperate fully with the Holy Spirit. Upon completion, the student minister can expect to be led by the Holy Spirit into situations of ministry involving the supernatural demonstrations of the power of the Holy Spirit. This is excellent training for believers desiring a biblical approach for healing the sick and understanding how to properly deal with evil spirits.
Ministry Skill Five: Healing the Sick by Revelation
The first ministry skill learned during Discipleship Three is how to heal the sick by relying on the revelation gifts of the Holy Spirit. The hands-on practicum sessions, led by experienced MTI leaders, give student ministers opportunities to minister healing in a positive and faith-filled learning environment. It is recommended that student ministers complete Discipleship One and Two before participating in these sessions.
Volume Two: Equipped for Leadership
The Call to Ministry These six lessons are the final teaching for preparing ministers to enter fruitful ministry. First, we must find out if we are really called to ministry. Next, we are to determine in which area of the equipping ministry we are to function in and how to train for it. The mark of true leaders is their ability to mentor others within the proper scheme of biblical authority. This is excellent preparation for those interested in church planting.
Who's Calling: Without a direct call from God to full-time ministry, ministers can be disappointed and disenchanted with the results of their efforts. This lesson explains how to discern between being called by God and being called by man. It explains the process by which God calls people into full-time ministry.
The Five Functions: Only God calls men and women into the ministries of apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, or teacher. How we train for and function in these equipping ministries depends on which calling God selects for us. This lesson details the specifics of each of the five functions and how they are to disciple the Body of Christ for reproductive ministry.
The Preparation: What training is necessary to function as a reproducing disciple for the Lord Jesus? We should strive for a balance of the academic and the practical. Lectures without hands-on practicum produce fruitless head knowledge. To prepare to function in an equipping ministry requires counting the cost of years of practical experience that can then be reproduced in others.
What's a Leader: The standards to effectively lead the church of Jesus Christ are high. This lesson presents leadership as a gift from God. However, Godly character and anointing come after years of being tested and found proven in many areas of personal discipline. People are safe to follow a person with vision and proven integrity.
The Art of Mentoring: Jesus was the perfect mentor. He took twelve unlikely men, mentored them for three years, and then entrusted the spreading of the Gospel to eleven of them after His death. This lesson rediscovers how disciples are shaped for effective ministry. By personally working with disciples until they can do everything you can do is the most effective way of making fully devoted disciples for Christ. Let us do it the way Jesus did it.
Biblical Authority: When we come into right relationship with God and each other, we establish the true foundation for biblical authority. To understand and apply delegated authority that is established in God’s Word, we must come into one accord with God. Our relationships with church leadership will then reap the fruit of harmonious productivity for the Kingdom.
Church Administration The final six lessons are designed to equip potential pastors and leaders with the basic understanding of church administration. Anyone aspiring to the leadership of a church must grasp the importance of establishing an authentic mission statement that will succeed within their established church government. Leaders must learn how to avoid the pitfalls of handling finances improperly and/or hiring incompetent staff. These lessons reveal how to achieve harmonious relationships among the church staff through biblical leadership.
The Mission Statement: Leadership must receive from God the mission He has established to reach a given community for Christ. Once established, this becomes the primary thrust for how that congregation reaches the community. This lesson shows the benefits, responsibilities, and importance of the mission statement as the foundation for what is being done.
Church Government: There are many types of governing bodies within churches worldwide. How church leadership conducts business depends on the type of governmental structure selected. This lesson discusses Episcopal, Presbyterian, and Congregational styles of church government. The pros and cons of each are examined.
Church Finances: Biblical stewardship of how God’s money should be collected, accounted for, and dispersed is a serious responsibility for church leadership. Teaching covers tithes, alms, and offerings with warnings about instituting safeguards of tight accountability. Preparing budgets and fundraising are also discussed.
Corporate Concerns: Church leadership must maintain a firm balance between the frictions caused by the mission statement, interaction with the community, and dealing with personnel problems. We label this as the cause, community, and corporate issues of running a well-balanced church. Each area must be managed with wisdom and decisiveness in order to achieve healthy church growth.
Building a Staff: A successful church is measured by the cooperative effort of leaders and staff working in harmony to achieve the cause and mission. This lesson attempts to answer the many challenges inherent with adding reliable workers to achieve this mission. It requires everyone being trained to fulfill separate goals that lead to achieving the master plan initiated by the Lord.
Leadership Training: Leaders train leaders. The progressive nature of building leaders for tomorrow’s church is the challenge for the five equipping functions called to equip the next generation of leaders. Each requires different training and expertise. Taking disciples through basic training and then on to leadership requires years of tedious mentoring. The reward comes when we see the apprentices doing everything their leaders did.
Ministry Skill Six: Dealing with Demons
The second ministry skill in Discipleship Three is learning how to deal with demons in an environment where the Holy Spirit directs the ministry. Student ministers learn how to operate Biblically, relying on the gifts of revelation and supernatural faith. Experienced MTI leaders oversee and closely monitor these advanced practicum sessions.
Optional Ministry Skill: Preaching the Full Gospel
Student ministers are required to prepare and preach a message before their class. The goal would be to preach a message that would inspire listeners to respond to God's offer for salvation, Holy Spirit baptism, and/or healing. This fulfills Jesus' command to "Go preach the Good News to all creation."
