From the Sea of Galilee to the City of Jerusalem

Israel— Before leaving Galilee, many of us decided to rededicate ourselves to the Lord by being water baptized in the river Jordan. It was a spiritual experience we will never forget. We went south to the Dead Sea to another five-star hotel where we bobbed like a cork in the Dead Sea and enjoyed a Swedish massage. Our visit to Masada, En Gedi, and Qumran was a sobering reminder of the hardships and cruelty the Jews and early believers endured. From Mt. Scopus we got our first glimpse of the magnificent old city of Jerusalem. We prayed and meditated in the Garden of Gethsemane where they arrested Jesus and then we walked onto the Temple Mount and prayed at the approximate site of the Holy of Holies. We visited the Pool of Bethesda where Jesus healed the lame man and went down into the Kings tunnels and explored the ongoing excavations of the Old City. We walked the Via Dolorosa from the praetorium toward Golgotha. We worshiped and sang in our spiritual languages in the incredible Upper Room. Finally, we spent the afternoon in an atmosphere of great exhilaration at the Garden Tomb by entering the tomb where Jesus was laid. On the door it says, “He is not here—for He is risen!” Y

The Lord spoke to John in the Synagogue where Jesus preached and cast out demons.

You could hear the distant bleating of sheep form the Mount of Beatitudes where Jesus taught.

John was baptized in the River Jordan and fulfilled his dream of floating in the Dead Sea.

Taking the Torah from it’s chest and reciting it at the Western Wall is a sacred honor for the Jews.

We sang hymns and worshiped in tongues in the Upper Room, just like in the days of pentecost.

The final highlight of our tour was going into the Garden Tomb where Jesus was resurrected.
