NEW STRATEGIES for MISSIONARY TRAINING

Los Angeles, CA,A Consultation for Missionary Training was conducted in Los Angeles on February 15. We were invited to be a part of the one-day “brain-storming” session with fifteen seasoned missionary leaders from around the world. The purpose of the consultation was to begin the process of building a fresh strategy for global missionary training. The people participating were: John Amstutz, Mario Barahona, Frank Greer, Cliff and Mari Hanes, Raul Irigoyen, Jon Looney, Johnell Loop, Dave Metsker, Pablo Pena, Lee Schnabel, Mark Shaw, Michael Stubbs, and ourselves.
We were asked to be a part of the consultation because of our experience with training believers for marketplace ministry. To send missionaries to the field with little or no training in direct spiritual warfare, operating by revelation knowledge, or how to cast out demons is asking for trouble. The six ministry skills in our book, Doing What Jesus Did is a good place to start. We recommend this and similar resources for any family or individual planning on an extended time in the field. We continue to get urgent calls from Africa from pastors desperate for our books and materials. The need is critical. ♥

Johnell Loop led the brainstorming sessions. She is a very seasoned instructor in missions training.

Leading hundreds of foreign believers into the power of the Holy Spirit baptism requires training.

Johnell Loop (middle) led the group into creative mission strategies suitable for implementation.

Pastor Mark Shaw and Dr. Cliff Hanes imparted invaluable ideas to overhaul missionary training.

Mari Hanes kept us focused on the four progressive stages of National Church Development.

Our experience in training our Asian brothers and sisters contributed to new missionary strategies.
